Test and Measure for Best Results

Test and measure for best results. Hi Coach Cameron here from http://SmallBusinessMasterCoaching and the www.LeapingThroughLife.com.au corporate coaching programs. Thanks for taking the time and clicking through to find out more about some cool marketing techniques for your business.

There are heaps of ways to do your cash on so called “advertising”. The traditional way business owners and managers waste their advertising dollars is they only put out one particular offer on the table or out in the marketplace at any one time.

The downside of only using one type of advertising mechanism without measuring anything is that it becomes a guessing game.

I was recently with a coaching client who owns his own fitness business and he was telling me how he didn’t even get one lead on an ad that he put out in the marketplace. Now I asked him how he tested and measured the ad over time – and guess what – he looked at me like stunned mullet!

This is exactly what most business owners do and create one ad at a time in the market place and then hold their breath and hope for the best! They then wait by the phone for someone to call them – this is not marketing this is called throwing your money away down the toilet!

The only way and the best way to run an advertising campaign is to test and measure at least three different ads against one another in slightly different places over the same medium. This is especially true if you use some form of online media for your advertising like social network sites.

I trust that has been helpful and I know you’ll enjoy our regular coaching programs as well, where you can be coached each month for the cost of a cup of coffee per week! For more details click here.

Why do many people fail when setting goals?

Hi there, Coach Cameron Roberts here, thanks for taking the time in clicking through in. Be sure to leave me a quick comment at the end of this article.

As part of our Leaping Through Life and Small Business Master Coaching Programs today, I want to share with you some coaching, business and life strategies around goal setting and specifically, I want to talk to you about why people fail when they set up their goals in the first place.

You know, as a coach of over 20 years experience, I find that a lot of people are really motivated to change something around New Year or in business it’s around end of financial year.  But as the year gets on and their lives get busy, they often pull back a little bit or relax a little bit on their goals and the things they set themselves up for in business or life initially.

Coach Cameron Roberts helps you Leap Through Life

Why doesn't everyone achieve their dreams and goals

So what makes someone succeed while other people who also set the goals fail and fall back?  Well, what I find in life is that people who succeed have a definite plan and a definite purpose.

They know what they want and they know what they want to get out of their lives, and that’s really important.  But you know what really makes people succeed and gets them Leaping Through Life when they set their goals?

It is that they first and foremost change their rules and their beliefs about the situation that they’re setting their goals for!

Here’s what I mean.  I’ll give you an example.  About six months ago, I was working with a team of managers with a Leaping Through Life corporate coaching program from the Commonwealth Bank in the Hunter Region.  Now, one of the managers came up to me about six months after the course that we ran for them and she was saying how great it was that she’s still motivated, she’s still achieving her goals that we set as part of the corporate program and she was really excited.

As a coach, I was really happy for her that she was still achieving those goals and objectives that we had set six months prior in the workshops that we did together.

So what happened was we just didn’t sit down and do a “goal-setting session” because anyone can do that.  You can just sit down, work out on paper what you want to achieve, and then go forward and try to achieve it.

To be Leaping Through Life and achieve real success we first established some values and beliefs, and we looked at their limiting beliefs.

What was holding them back?  What do they believe about a certain situation, about their health, about their finance, about their personality that motivate in holding them back?  And once we looked at their beliefs that they had about a situation, then and only then do we set up their goals.

Now this is where a lot of people go wrong.  They set themselves a goal of say, getting fit in the New Year but they don’t change their beliefs about what fitness means to them.  Or they set themselves a goal of going on a diet in the New Year to lose weight but they don’t change their beliefs about food and what food means to them.

So if you want to change anything in your life, it’s a nor brainer that you need to set some goals -but what you’ve got to do first and foremost is change some of the limiting beliefs that you have about that situation you are setting your goals for and in.

Leaping Through Your Life by setting goals effectively

Coach Cameron Roberts here from Leaping Through Life and Small Business Master Coaching.

Now, let’s just keep things  simple, when it comes to setting goals and let’s talk about health and fitness.

If someone was going on a diet because they wanted to lose weight, sure, they will lose some weight if they set a goal to lose weight and go on a diet.  But guess what happens almost all the time when someone stops the diet.  That’s right.  They put the weight back on.  And in most cases, they put the weight on more so.

So they might take off ten kilos but often overtime, they’ll end up being 12 kilos heavier.  So what went wrong?  Well, they didn’t change what food meant to them.  Maybe it was an emotional support and so they starve themselves and they cut their calories back.  Sure, they lost some weight but they didn’t change what food meant to them.

Leaping Through Life by setting goals

Leaping Through Life by setting goals

Here’s what I mean.  My personal belief about food is that food’s a fuel source.  So when I look at food for performance, I’m looking at the best food possible that I can get in my body, in my self that drive me everyday and give me the energy I need to do the things I want to do in my life.  Yet someone else might use food as an emotional crutch.  So when they’re having a stressful day or they had a fight with a partner, they go to the pantry and they kind of get themselves sordid by eating more food and it’s more of a comfort thing.  It’s something that I can go to.  It’s almost like a friend they can go to and eat some chocolate, eat some ice cream.  And all treats are good but what I’m saying is that you need to change your beliefs about a certain thing before you set a goal in that area.

So using diet again, if you were going on a diet or you wanted to change the way you feel inside your body by using food, you need to change what food means to you.

You need to write down all the beliefs you currently have about food and you need to strike out all the disempowering ones, all the ones that are holding you back.  And then you need to come up with some new beliefs about food like…

  • food gives me more energy.
  • When I eat great food, I feel alive and healthy.
  • When I eat food, I can do anything when I eat the right food, things like that.

So fitness is the same.  People set goals to get fit, join the gym and sure they do that for a little while, but then once it gets too tough, they pull back.  Once life gets too busy, they stop going.  They haven’t changed their belief about fitness. See, my personal belief about fitness is that if I keep myself in shape physically, I’ll be not only strong physically but I’ll be strong mentally and strong emotionally.  And I know that gives me the edge in my business and in my life because I’m physically fit and I’m mentally strong.

Other people might look at fitness as a negative.  They only join the gym because they want to lose weight, but they don’t really like the fitness.  They don’t really like the exercise.

So again, what I encourage people to do at www.coachcamerons.com is to make sure they change their beliefs.  Get into some sort of fitness activity or exercise program that you actually enjoy doing on a regular basis and then change what that means to you.

Find something you enjoy and write some empowering beliefs, stuff that makes you feel great about exercise…

  • “Fitness makes me feel great,”
  • “I’m alive when I exercise,”
  • “I love my new body and the way my muscles feel tight and toned”

Once you set up your beliefs and you must do this on paper by the way.  It’s not just something you think through in your head because if it’s just in your head, it’s an idea.  It’s not going to come to fruition, right?  You have to write it on paper to get it real so that your mind’s eye can see what you really want to achieve.

So here are the simple steps for setting and achieving your goals and be Leaping Through Life.

  1. Write down what it is that you want to change.
  2. Write down the empowering and dis-empowering or the positive and the negative beliefs you had about that topic/area that you want to change
  3. Then move on and create the goals or the objectives in that area that you want to achieve.

So it’s a very simple three-step process, have fun with it, enjoy your life, and I’ll look forward to seeing or hearing from you soon. The Power of Change by Coach Cameron

Coach Cameron Roberts here and welcome to the Leaping Through Life Corporate Coaching and Small Business Master Coaching Programs.

You know, you’ve probably heard it before that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again but expecting a different result. You know, the same is true for many of us when it comes to our own health, vitality and well-being.

Often, we want to change something about ourselves, our body image, our physical appearance, or just our energy levels on a daily basis, but we keep doing the same things over and over again and expecting something else to change. You know, if you want to change the way you feel when you first get up in the morning, you have to change something in your lifestyle. It’s just not enough to wish upon a star about your health and fitness. You actually have to make a conscious decision and take the appropriate action and do something about it if you want to wake up in the mornings feeling alive and alert.

I started working with someone recently and they shared this story about how they were doing the same thing over and over again, time and time again in relation to their diet. And so, what would happen was they’d go on some diet program that’s sold on TV or over-the-counter and they’d go on the program and they would lose massive amounts of weight. Obviously, with all these types of diet programs, you can’t do them long-term. It’s very, very hard and difficult to maintain. Every time they stop the diet program, they would put on weight and then some more to what they first started. And so, they’ve had that yo-yo effect of going on the diet, taking the shakes and the bars, losing the weight massively fast, but then being so hungry after four or six weeks or eight weeks or three months that within weeks, they would put all the weight back on again after they stop the shakes and the bars and the special diet program.

Now, they repeated this for the last eight to ten years of their life. And what do you think it did to their body? Well, obviously their body is not in a shape that they would like it right now. And that got me thinking, I wonder how many of us do the same thing on a daily basis, not only with our health and our fitness, but also with our business or our families and our relationships? How many of us keep doing the same approach or keep applying the same approach over and over again and yet we expect a different result?

You know, if there’s something to change in your life, you must change. You must change the way that you approach it. You must change the type of action that you take. If you’ve tried something before in the past and it hasn’t worked for you long-term, there’s a good chance that same action is not going to work next time either, long-term.

So to finish up, I’ll give you this one little tip. If you need something to change, avoid doing the same thing that you’ve done in the past. Seek a coach for instance, get some guidance, find an expert in the area that you want to accelerate in and let them show you how to get proven, long-term results without doing the same things and the same mistakes that you’ve always made.

Well, I hope that’s been helpful for today. Thanks for tuning in again. And if you visit my website, which is www.leapingthroughlife.com.au, you can subscribe to a free eBook on either business or wellness.

Thanks for tuning in and I’ll talk to you soon. Have a great day and remember to change something inside your self.

Print Media – waste of time for the little guys(and gals!) in small business

Hi Coach Cameron here from Small Business Master Coaching and Leaping Through Life.

In my efforts to support small business owner with ways to brand and advertise their business, I have started to commence a little experiment to find out if Small Businesses that advertise in magazines and newspaper print actually get value for money and a good return on their investment dollar.

To protect myself, the business owners involved and the media in which they advertise in – I will not be disclosing either party – but I can guarantee and assure you that the responses are real and genuine. (why would I make it up?).

In all cases I asked them if they got any leads out of the advertisement and if they thought it gave a good (not great – just good) return on their dollar – which in most cases involved $500-$1500 for a 1/4 page and $3000-$5000 (wow that’s a lot of $$ for an ad!) for a full page.

I will update this post frequently with the responses I get:

  • “Not really – No leads think it was a waste of money”
  • “To be completely honest with you, it has done nothing for my business. It wasn’t cheap either to advertise and it was a big call to agree to advertise as the Real Estate Industry is very slow at the moment. Following me agreeing to advertising, I told my Real Estate Agents (as we are conveyances) that we have advertised in this magazine and they said they don’t even read these publications, they just put it to the side. So me personally for my business, I would not advertise in there again. Hope this helps
  • “I gave up newspaper advertising a long time ago. Spending the same money on your website and other advertising which does work is far better. On each occasion, if I’d just spent the money on a weekend away with my family, I would have probably been more inspired to do well.

Stay tuned in for further updates and results.
